Once the school was established a temporary iron church was built and opened in Primrose Road and registered in 1904. It stood for nearly 90 years next to the site of the current Parish Centre. Vandals burnt down this church in 1990. The land on which the former church stood, having for many years been used as a Scout hut and parish hall, was sold for a sheltered housing project. The money from the sale of the land was eventually used to build the new presbytery.
